Message from the Principal What's Happening At Sherman
Dear Parents and Community Members,
Sherman Early Childhood Center is truly the beginning point for children on their journey through the Morgan County School District public school system. All kindergarten and preschool programs in the district are housed at Sherman.
Sherman's student population is diverse with an enrollment of approximately 230 kindergarten students. The total preschool enrollment is also approximately 300 students in 2 separate programs. Our staff is dedicated to providing a safe, caring and nurturing environment for all children. We strive to challenge each student to reach their full potential in learning and as community citizens.
I am honored and pleased to serve as principal of Sherman Early Childhood Center. Visitors are always welcome at Sherman. If you have any comments, questions, or concerns, feel free to contact me at the school.
Debra Lee, Ed.S.

School attendance is very important for your child. Absences from school can never really be made up. When children fall behind due to excessive absences and tardiness, they are not able to learn and progress with the rest of the students. Instruction begins promptly at the beginning of each school day and continues until dismissal. School attendance habits, which are formed early in life, most certainly have an effect on whether the student will successfully graduate from High School. Because it is so important to the success of the student, school attendance is a high priority for our school district.
Children who are ill do need to be kept at home however. It is our policy that a student who has been running a fever must be fever free without medication for at least 24 hours prior to attending school. This helps to insure that children are feeling well enough to get the instructional benefit from attending school and also that they are not spreading their illness to other students and staff by returning too early.
We appreciate your efforts to get your child to school on time every day.
